Every job listing on TrustedJobs receives a JobTrustScore — a trust grade from A+ to F based on dozens of signals across multiple categories. Our goal is simple: help you quickly tell legitimate opportunities from questionable ones.
Each listing is evaluated across five trust categories. The categories are combined into a single composite score, with adjustments for detected risk patterns.
Employer Trust
We evaluate the company behind the listing — their track record, verification status, and overall credibility as an employer.
Listing Quality
We assess how complete, specific, and well-structured the job posting is — including the description, requirements, compensation details, and application process.
Freshness & History
We check whether the listing is current and actively being filled, or if it shows signs of being a stale or recycled posting.
External Verification
We cross-reference the listing against multiple external sources to verify it exists elsewhere and that details are consistent.
Community & Behavioral Signals
We look at employer engagement patterns and community feedback to surface additional trust indicators.
The composite score maps to a letter grade that gives you an at-a-glance sense of how trustworthy a listing appears.
Exceptional
Outstanding trust signals across all categories. This listing shows strong indicators of being legitimate and well-maintained.
Highly Trusted
Very strong positive signals with no significant concerns detected.
Good
Solid listing with most trust signals present. Minor gaps may exist but nothing concerning.
Mixed Signals
Some positive indicators alongside areas of concern. We recommend verifying details independently before applying.
Proceed with Caution
Multiple trust concerns detected. Carefully verify all details before engaging with this listing.
Significant Concerns
Serious trust issues identified. This listing may be misleading, outdated, or potentially fraudulent.
Certain patterns — such as requests for payment, suspicious contact methods, or premature personal information requests — trigger automatic score penalties. These penalties apply regardless of how well the listing scores in other categories, because they represent risks that job seekers should always be aware of. You can see which red flags (if any) were detected by expanding the score details on any listing.
Transparency
Every score comes with detailed reason codes explaining exactly what contributed to it — both positive and negative. You can expand "Why this score?" on any listing to see the full breakdown.
Honest About Limitations
TrustScores are automated assessments, not guarantees. Scores may change over time as new data becomes available, and new employers may score lower simply due to limited history. We always recommend verifying critical details independently.
Continuous Improvement
We regularly refine our scoring methodology based on new data, user feedback, and emerging scam patterns. Our goal is to keep getting better at protecting job seekers.
